New Moon In Taurus

nmc-april

Tonight will be a New Moon in the constellation of Taurus bringing with it a very intense period of new discoveries and new awakenings. We will be able to see what needs to be seen in order to fill in the gaps we have been missing and piece together the puzzle. We will see the world with sharp clarity.

So much of what has been suppressed is coming to the light, this New Moon is about truth and seeing what is really there and not what we want to see. This will be a time of seeing illusions about ourselves, illusions about others, and illusions about our world. All of these will start crumbling away so we can build on what is real and true.

The Taurus New Moon is about strengthening our sense of security. It is a time for re-evaluating our relationship with money and possessions and discovering what it is that truly makes us happy and fulfilled. It’s a time for considering new ways of increasing our income or earning power. We should be concentrating on what it is we can do to increase our own feelings of self-worth. We are asked to get in touch with what it is that we truly value and want in our lives, and to part with those things or situations that are not contributing to our feelings of worthiness. This includes identifying those things that give us a false sense of security.

This is a time for getting back to nature and seeing the beauty all around us at the moment, trees are full with foliage, flowers are starting to open up and bloom, fields are lush and green, days are bright and warm, birds are singing. Full Pink Moon In Aries

fullpinkmoon2015
Tonight is the Full Pink Moon. This name comes from the wild groundphlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of spring. Other names for this month’s Moon are Seed Moon, The Wind Moon, the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes, the Full Fish Moon, because this was the time that fish swam upstream to spawn. There was a Lunar Eclipse this morning turning the Moon a dark blood-red color known as a Blood Moon. This is always a special time because the earth, the sun, and the moon were all in perfect alignment for a brief time.

In April, the thunderstorms of March are beginning to subside, and the wind picks up. Seeds are being blown about on the breezes, spreading life all around from one place to the next. This is a brilliant Moon to use for any new projects or ideas we may have, it is also the perfect time to conceive as fertility is abundant at this time.

The pull of the past can be strong at a lunar eclipse and this one is certainly no exception. We may find our best intentions going up in smoke as we embrace old habits and fall back into old destructive patterns. Try and be strong and not take the easy option, instead take the road which will give you the best results.

Emotions are running high on the Pink Moon, our smallest emotions can be magnified and intensified making us feel a little overwhelmed at times. This is the time to put your gratitude forth for all the many blessings in your life and to clearly speak aloud your intentions and desires to be heard by the universe as we step across this edge to the other side.

We are in a powerful time where we are asked to look at what is no longer working in our lives and inhibiting our further growth. Where are we surrounded by things, people, situations, attitudes that are actually toxic and need to be burned in the fire, so we can be reborn like the phoenix.

Use the light of this Full Moon to cast away negativity and the negative aspects of our lives and to let positive and good pour in. Open yourself up and allow your vessel to be filled with the blessings that the universe is sending out now.

Have a blessed Full Moon and may the Goddess watch over you.

New Moon in Aries

newmooninaries

Tonight is a New Moon in Aries, heralding in a powerful new start. This is also the start of a new year in Astrology. The zodiac always begins with Aries.

This New Moon is truly a new birth of life, inspiration, and ideas. It is energetically connected to the womb of evolution, like a butterfly coming out of its chrysalis. The earth is changing now all around us as it wakes for Spring. We are also waking up to what we need to do to grow and move on in our lives.

The energy of transformation is being seeded within each of us. Aries is the warrior so find your inner spiritual warrior who will guard your back and help keep you focused on your destiny. Don’t be afraid to step in and defend people, places, or anyone who can’t help themselves. Find the kind of warrior energy you carry and bring it to the surface.

The New Moon in Aries makes a bold statement and thus leaves no stone unturned as it may symbolically or directly point the way to the path that is untraveled. Within the unknown or unfamiliar, the Divine has the opportunity to bring in wonderful surprises. This is a time to make wishes and go for what you want.

Aries is a fire sign and is full of ambition and determination, use this energy to go for what you want. What you may see during the next few days of this New Moon:

During the next few days you may experience a feeling of anger or a new-found confidence, there will be more intense weather patterns, such as storms or thunder. You may be feeling that you need to get moving in your life. There may be some anxiety and impatience over where you are and where you want to be. There will be more spirit/ghost sightings. People will be acting more assertive and argumentative (traffic, at work, relationships, etc). Pets may start acting strangely. This is the Aries energy.

This New Moon is all about change, it is a breath of much needed fresh air. Get rid of old baggage that holds you back. Let the fire of Aries cleanse and heal you. This is a lucky time, so do things that you felt you couldn’t do in the past, be a bit bolder, a bit louder, ask for what you want from the universe, and let your thoughts and desires manifest into something real.

Have a Blessed New Moon and may the Goddess watch over you.

Ostara Snow Blessings

Ostara Blessings to all. Today is the Spring Equinox.

The Wheel turns to that special point of balance. On this day, light and dark are equal, but the light is surpassing the dark, warmth is taking over cold, life is taking over death, today we truly say goodbye to winter. The young horned God is growing stronger and the Goddess is in her maiden form.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we look forward to the longer and warmer days. We notice the buds forming on the branches, the birds returning and animals coming out of hiding, flowers will start to shoot and the grass will become lush and green.

The young Sun God takes notice of the Maiden Goddess and the stirrings within them seem to be felt in all living creatures. All the world seems renewed– refreshed– and bursting with possibilities.

Ostara is an Anglo Saxon and Celtic fertility festival that would worship the Goddess Ostara or Eostre, as she is also known. Eggs and rabbits are her fertility symbols, the egg resembles new life and birth and the rabbit signifies fertility. Ostara is all about rebirth. Other Goddesses worshiped on this day are Ishtar and Persephone who were both resurrected from death on this day.

The Horned Sun God also known as the Oak King or the Lord of Light is also worshiped. The Gods Pan and Cernunnos, and Sun Gods such as Sol, Apollo Ra, and Horus are included. In ancient Rome, the followers of Cybele believed that their goddess had a consort who was born via a virgin birth. His name was Attis, and he died and was resurrected each year during the time of the Spring Equinox.

Eostre was the Saxon version of the Germanic Goddess Ostara. Her feast day was held on the first full moon following the Spring equinox, almost the identical calculation as the Christian Easter.

Ostara is a time of newness and rebirth, it is a time to clear out all our old junk and clean it all out. This is precisely where we get the term “spring cleaning” from. But it isn’t just clearing out our homes, it is also clearing out the junk and negative energy that we carry around with us. Let the new energies of the Sun and Spring rejuvenate us. Welcome in the new. Breathe new life into yourself and look to the future with hope and optimism.

On Ostara it is customary to plant new seeds, especially herbs, to use in spell work and watch them grow over the coming months, adding your wishes and desires to the plants. Also plant seeds of thought and new ideas and cultivate them, let them grow and become.

Full Crow Moon In Virgo

fcm-2015
Tonight is the Full Crow Moon, also known as the Worm Moon and the Sap Moon. It is called the Crow Moon for the cawing crows that signal the end of winter. As the earth thaws, worms start to appear and it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of maple trees begins.

As we move toward Ostara, the Spring Equinox on March 20th when both day and night are at equal length, we are reminded to find our own inner balance and focus inward toward inner wisdom and self analysis.

This Full Moon is about cultivating and growing, just as the Sun’s energy and nature is doing. Plant the seeds of new ventures now, plan for the future, think about what it is you want and need, and set about putting a plan into action. Use this month for magical workings related to rebirth and regrowth. New life is blooming during this phase of the moon, as is prosperity and fertility.

The Full Moon always illuminates our inner feelings and desires, so emotions can be quite raw and enhanced. The Full Moon is in the sign of Virgo. This means we may be over-critical of ourselves and of others. Try not to see the bad in everything, instead looking for the good. Virgo is also a very practical sign, so use its energy for getting jobs done that you have been putting off for a while. Tackle any problems and bring them to an end.

This Full Moon brings light to whatever was hidden in the darkness or buried within the subconscious, such as emotional pain or our deepest desires, but once awareness happens, you are able to make realistic changes. Our emotional levels move like strong, turbulent waves in the Ocean during high tide for some during this Full Moon. Emotional reactions may be strong, energies may feel irritable or uptight, but don’t worry, this too will pass. We are amidst great times of transformation which are heralding major new beginnings. Change isn’t always easy or comfortable and it’s constant, so we must strive to keep our balance.

Let the energy of this Full Moon wash over you and cleanse your spirit, use it to heal yourself, both emotionally and physically. Let the moonlight bathe and soothe you, body and soul. Seek a balance of light and dark and see the truth in your life, however much it may hurt. Only then can we do something about it. The best use of this Full Moon can be about harnessing the potential for self-adjustments, inner work, and healing.

Have a blessed Full Moon, and may the Goddess watch over you.

Full Snow Moon In Leo

fmb1

Tonight is The Full Snow Moon (also known as the Storm, Chaste, Quickening, or Hunger Moon). It is our wake up call. During this time, all in nature is pure and full of potential. The hibernating creatures are beginning to slowly rouse themselves, quickening their heartbeats, and creeping out of their dormant period. Mother Earth is gently awakening, full of new possibilities. The Snow Moon uses the same force upon us.

There is a gentle pulling upon our consciousness at this time, we become aroused to the latent forces within ourselves. Now is the time to turn the mirror upon ourselves, and see what is reflected. A time to grasp the buds of new paths and ideas, and like nature, be prepared to welcome life anew.

February’s Full Moon is in Leo, the sign of ambition and confidence. You should feel a rush of energy and want to get things done. The Leo Full Moon message is awaken to your heart’s desires and act on your truth, figure out what it really is you want from life, then work out a bold plan to achieve it.

The Leo Full Moon can be emotionally charged. Leo is larger than life. Leo rules big emotions. Leo rules drama. You may feel overly sensitive to the remarks and actions of other people. This Moon can bring out the drama Kings and Queens in all of us. The Leo Full Moon may feel pretty intense. If you like intense, you may well enjoy its spark and energy, but if you’re already feeling somewhat jaded and in need of a rest, it might be a good time to lay low and let the world pass you by rather than engaging too deeply with it.

The Full Moon will be very bright tonight as it highlights our lives and shows us underneath the masks we all wear on a daily basis. This is a time to harness your inner power and your strengths and look to the future, make plans, and be brave in your decisions. The cosmic message is to balance your heart with your head. Find the middle ground in your relationships. Live from your heart. Yet, be practical in your approach to your dreams and goals. Plant the seeds of fate within ourselves and watch them develop over the coming months.

The best part of Leo is the inner child. You are to nourish and protect your childlike innocence. You are to be open to new ideas and fresh perspectives. Be curious about life. Be engaged in the magic of the moment. Be in your heart. Let go of the need to criticize and judge yourself and others. This will kill your creativity. Instead, allow yourself and others to make mistakes. It is the only way we learn what works and what does not work for us. There’s a sense of free-spirited enjoyment, a faith in happy outcomes and the ability to speak from Love and the heart.

The Moon is plump with positive energy. There are no negative aspects to this Moon. This is a celebration Moon. A reward for the hard work and intense striving that you have done. Leo is a fire sign and this Moon is full of fiery energy. Fire is cleansing, let the fire wash over you and cleanse you anew.

Have a blessed Full Moon and May the Goddess watch over you.

Imbolc Blessings

ib-2015

Today is Imbolc pronounced ‘im’olk. This is the first of 8 Pagan holidays throughout the year called Sabbats. Imbolc is a time to acknowledge the “First Spark” of embedded energies that have been sleeping over the winter. The seeds that are underground acknowledge the returning energy and will begin to convert it to life deep within the seeds, Underground and unseen by man. Even though it is still the dead of winter and certainly feels like winter in most places, the Sun’s energy has been returning ever since the Winter Solstice (the longest night of the year, Yule).

On Imbolc we celebrate the first days of Spring, snowdrops and crocuses begin to appear, things become very spring-like with daffodils and hyacinths coming early. Animals begin to wake from their winter hibernation. Nights get shorter and days will get longer, and it will start to get warmer as winter snow and frost begin to thaw.

We celebrate the rebirth of the Goddess on Imbolc after she sacrificed herself on Yule to give birth to the Sun God. Both the God and Goddess are young, the triple Goddess is in her maiden form and gains strength from the earth, while the Sun God will grow in strength over the coming months.

Imbolc is a Celtic fire festival, where in ancient times most towns and villages would build a ceremonial bonfire. The Goddess Brigid, the Goddess of fire, healing, and fertility was worshiped on this day. The lighting of fires celebrated the increasing power of the Sun. The Goddess Brigid was so much-loved by the Celts that when the Christians were converting Pagans, they could not change the holiday of Imbolc so the holiday was reformed and renamed to ‘Candlemas’ when candles are lit to remember the purification of the Virgin Mary, and they changed the Goddess Brigid into Saint Brigid.

Imbolc is the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring. To celebrate Imbolc, light a fire, it may only be a very small one, and make wishes for the coming year into the flames. Burn any leftover evergreens that were decorating your home at Yule. Clean your homes of clutter that was gathered over Yuletide. Get rid of the old and bring in the new. Plant flowers for them to bloom in the Spring. Use a sage smudge stick to cleanse your homes of stale or unwanted negative energies. (If you’d like a recipe for Smudge Spray, please contact me as it is much cleaner and easier to use than smudge sticks.)

Imbolc is a time of contemplation, to think about the year that has passed, and the mistakes or successes we have had and what we have learned from them to help us achieve our goals, dreams, and ambitions for the coming year. As well as planting seeds to grow in the earth, also plant seeds in your mind to grow and blossom over the coming months.

Have a blessed Imbolc. May the God and Goddess watch over you.

New Moon In Capricorn

newmoon-cap

Tonight is a New Moon in the constellation of Capricorn. This is the final New Moon of the year. As with all New Moons this is the end of a cycle and a new beginning. It is an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start anew. Use this renewed energy to make a fresh start in the coming New Year.

Capricorn is about hard work and strength, but it is also about hard play and vulnerability. You may be feeling a little under-appreciated at the moment for all your hard work, but even though people don’t always show it, know that what you do for them is very much appreciated. Try not to dwell in negativity and let your playful and fun side out. We all need to relax and let our hair down now and again. You deserve a break.

Emotions will be high this New Moon, your feelings will be intense and heightened. Each individual is testing themselves to rise to a higher level through a challenge in some form. Many people start a New Year full of hope and promises, and then start to feel down as the year progresses. Don’t let this happen to you, keep your promises to yourself, don’t lose faith. This is a magical year full of powerful energy that will help you succeed.

Don’t get ready. Be ready. Uranus moves direct just hours before the Capricorn New Moon. This is a green light from the universe to go forward. Uranus rules freedom. Uranus wants to liberate you from the chains that bind you. You are creating your reality. You do this from your thoughts, words, and behavior. What do you want to create in the New Year? You are setting the foundation for the next twelve months. Be practical, patient, and set achievable goals.

Use the power of this New Moon for real growth, look deep within yourself and ask what it is you need to change or to grow, also ask what you need to let go of that which is holding you back. Don’t let fear stand in your way, push past it and make a real commitment to getting to where you want or need to be.

This is a time you should be reflecting on the past and lessons you have learned over the last year. Take the lessons into the future with you. Let go of the old and welcome the new. Take small steps you feel comfortable with to create a positive change. Start your own personal journey to who and what you want to be. Dream big, and think big. Be ambitious, follow your dreams and desires. Allow yourself to be happy.

Have a Blessed New Moon, and may the Goddess watch over you.

Winter Solstice Blessings

yule1

Today is Yule, commonly referred to as the Winter Solstice, which is the longest night of the year. After this night the nights will start to get shorter and days longer. It is the rebirth of the Sun.
Every 6 months there is a Solstice. On the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, the Waning Sun takes control of the skies and the days get shorter and nights get longer, the cold starts to set in and vegetation begins to die. On the Winter Solstice the Waxing Sun takes over and the nights start to get shorter and the days longer, it is a sign that Spring is only a few months away, where life will begin anew and the earth will start to blossom and bloom.

On Yule we celebrate the return of the Waxing Sun. In Wicca it is the birth of the Sun God who has many names; Cernunnos, The Oak King, Apollo, Sol, Freyr, Horus, Mithras, and more. The Goddess gives birth to him on this night, she sacrifices herself to give life to the Lord Of Light to ensure the earths’ survival.

In ancient tradition, Yule was celebrated with a large fire where townsfolk and villagers would dedicate it to the Sun God. They would fill their home with evergreens and an evergreen tree to show that even though the land is barren and dead, life is still flourishing, They would decorate the tree and their home with shiny objects to encourage The Sun God to shine.

We use Holly and Mistletoe on Yule as symbols of the fertility of the God and Goddess as they grow in the Winter. The red berries of the Holly represent the blood of the Goddess and the white berries of Mistletoe represent the God to ensure a healthy Spring and harvest to come.

The Winter Solstice has been celebrated by many ancient cultures, one of the most famous being Saturnalia and more modernly, Christmas.

Yule is a celebration of light, and of the Sun and its life-giving properties upon the earth. It is a time to rejoice and to be thankful for all we have and to gather strength for the new year. It is a time to contemplate on the year that has gone and look to the future.

Tonight, build a fire of Oak in honor of the Sun God and speak your wishes into its flames for the coming new year. Eat drink and be merry.

Yule Blessings to all. 🙂
