As They Should!…

As They Should!

“Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.” ―Christopher Hitchens

I found an adorable Bombay kitten today. I’m heartbroken that I won’t be able to adopt it. Memo to shelters: If an animal is already in the adoption process or has already been adopted, let people know before someone fills out the application. Looking forward to late summer, early Fall when kittens will be in abundance. I’m bringing home two, mostly because the shelter I am dealing with won’t permit anyone to adopt more than two animals at a time. That’s fair, but if I find one locally, I’m bringing the little fluff ball home and they will all just have to learn how to cope and coexist.

This is such an inspiring story for those of us who are cat lovers and are genuine “cat property”. You’re not truly a “cat owner”, but you are owned by a cat. Every one of us that gets a lengthy amount of time with a cat, or with more than one cat, is blessed with the unconditional love they bring into our lives and the energy, joy, laughter, and personality they share with us.
