Tonight is the Full Moon, known as the Blood Moon because between now and Samhain/Halloween was the harvest of flesh. It was the time when the farming community would slaughter cattle and preserve the meat to last through the winter months. Poorer families would use the brightness of this Full Moon to go hunting for their meat. So it became known as the Blood Moon. It is also called the Hunters Moon, the Shedding Moon, or the Falling Leaf Moon.

This Full Moon there was a lunar eclipse earlier today when the Moon, the Earth, and the Sun are in perfect alignment, and the Earth casts a shadow over the Moon so it becomes a deep blood red.

The Full Moon is in Aries, making it all about pent up emotions and balance. The eclipse will also have your emotions reeling and will have you asking yourself are you in the right place you wish to be at this time and questioning your current situation.

The Aries Lunar Eclipse requires us to be balanced in our masculine and feminine energies. Masculinity is not better than Femininity. Femininity is not better than Masculinity. We need a balance of both male and female to be whole. This will bring you towards greater self-expression and freedom. You may feel a strong need to stand up for yourself and speak your truth. Let us remember to give others plenty of room to be who they are and speak their truth too.

You are born again in the Aries cleansing fire. Let go of the false self. Embrace who you really are. Be heart-centered. Liberate your mind. This is real freedom. Lunar eclipses signal a completion and an awareness that could change the course of our journey if we let it.

The heart may skip a beat as raw emotions surface now and energies are charged up. This is par for the course. Allow anger and agitation to rise up and clear out without jabbing anyone with the energy. You don’t have to allow things to become volatile, instead use these emotions to look inwards on yourself rather than outwards blaming others.

Take positive action in advance by being responsible for your emotions and reactions to things. Direct the pent up or stuck emotional energy into organizing, working out or anything that burns off the ‘gunk’ and exhausts you in a good way.

This eclipse opens a window until November 3rd of a time that supports deep change. The energy of this Full Moon can be a bit challenging if you are not in alignment with what you need at this time. May you finally get the message and leave the past behind, honoring the experiences by making them conscious and giving them meaning.

We are on the threshold of knowing things that will alter the course and direction of our lives, and how our minds are able to recognize signs and signals and bring forth messages from the Spiritual realms. This eclipse comes to remind us that who we are is written nowhere but in our own hearts, and it is there we will discover it.

This Full Moon, use the energy to heal, healing energies are very strong now, look inside yourself and ask what it is you need to heal your hurt, pain, emotions. Clear your mind of negativity and try to look to a brighter and more positive future in the year ahead, make the decision to make big changes, this Moons energy will help you achieve them.

May you have a blessed Full Moon and may the Goddess watch over you.

The Pink Moon

Technically the Full Moon began early this morning (EDT) and the Eclipse is past us, but I thought this info was good to share too.

fullpinkmoon

April’s Full Moon would usually be known as The Pink Moon, The Sprouting Grass Moon, The Egg Moon, the Fish Moon and the Seed Moon. But because this Full Moon falls on a total lunar eclipse, which many will have seen early this morning. it is what we call a Blood Moon. As the Moon gets caught in Earths shadow during the eclipse it turns red. If you missed the eclipse this morning here are some images of it:.http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/04/15/under-a-blood-red-sky/?tid=hp_mm

A lunar eclipse is a time when the Moon, the Sun, and the Earth are all in perfect alignment. Our planet sits between these two great bodies, and we feel the pull of the Moon on one side, with the warmth of the Sun on the other. It is a time when things just fall into place, our minds become clear and we can see what it is we need to see. We will get a moment of pure clarity.

This Full Moon symbolizes ‘powerful endings, closure, clearing out, completion .’ It heralds a time of major transitions. It represents letting go, purging and releasing especially on an emotional and psychological level. Be brave and face death. A new birth is upon us, a collective yearning for something better to arise in our world.

During the Full Moon phase in astrology, emotions tend to be like high tide in the Ocean. Surge of emotional intensity is now possible. There may be a lot more flowing out through tears, sorrow, pain and even joy. Consider the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Libra a time to restore the harmony and balance on many levels but especially the emotional. Relationship to your emotional self and emotional intimacy with others may be helpful now.

When we experience an eclipse, it is an opportunity for reset. A portal of alignment is created where new influence can take precedence over the old. This is the time to put your gratitude forth for all the many blessings in your life and to clearly speak aloud your intentions and desires to be heard by the universe as we step across this edge to the other side.

We are in a powerful time where we are asked to look at what is no longer working in our lives- where is the old skin stuck and inhibiting our further growth. Where are we surrounded by things, people, situations, attitudes that are actually toxic and need to be burned in the fire, so we can rebirth ourselves like the phoenix does.

This eclipse kicks off a series of Blood Moons called a tetrad, there will be 4 blood moons between now and next year which are spaced out at exactly 6 month periods, which many religious groups have heralded this as an end of days as there 666 months between each one and a verse from The King James Bible predicts: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes,” [Joel 2:31] This is not a Wiccan belief however and the world is not going to end.

Have a blessed Full Moon, may the Goddess watch over you.

Full Moon in Scorpio + Lunar Eclipse

Every month, I try to take the day of the Full Moon off, even if that just means escaping to get a manicure or grabbing a few hours of 100% private time, no one nagging me, no phones ringing, etc. This started when Wicca became a part of my life over 10 years ago, and I’ve kept it up because I like having the day to sort of focus on myself a bit and recharge my batteries.

I’m a big moon/star watcher. I love my Eastern/Western views of the moon and various constellations, but as I’ve previously stated, once the sun rises, I’m done.

Today is the Full Moon in Scorpio (100% Sign Pride!) and some of us will also be able to see the Lunar Eclipse as part of this. I love seeing any kind of eclipse, they’re so fascinating and beautiful to watch. Anyone that is able to snag a photo of this will be lucky, for sure.

This morning I found a neat little piece about today’s moon and thought I’d share it.

“FULL SCORPIO MOON: Scorpio is the most misunderstood energy of the zodiac. It doesn’t help that Scorpio’s symbol is a creature with a painful sting, or that Scorpio rules the sex organs, or that it is associated with the death card of the Tarot. You might say that Scorpio specializes in the kind of topics one might avoid in polite conversation, but it just so happens that there wouldn’t be a context for polite conversation if not for the energies that Scorpio rules: Life, Death, Regeneration, Existence. (The fact that I have a Scorpio glyph tattoo, as well as a symbol for Life, Death & Rebirth won’t come as a surprise.)

This particular Scorpio moon is pregnant with the profound feeling that your existence is so improbable that you had very well better do something interesting with it, if not something downright great. The lunar eclipse will be a momentary “reset” — a cosmic do-over button that allows a different approach, a fresh attitude or a second shot at what’s important to you.

In her pregnant phase, the Scorpio moon wants us to hold on to hope. Possibilities exist in situations that seem impossible. You never know when and how things will turn around. There is nothing, and then suddenly there is everything. Life is more magical for those who choose to believe.”

Interesting, huh? My horoscope is always pretty accurate in terms of what is going on in my life, so I was glad to see this and get a tiny glimmer of peace from the knowledge that things WILL eventually get better.

For all you non-Scorps, I hope you have a great day and get to enjoy the moon this evening. For all “my people” (fellow Scorps), enjoy the day and night, for it is in this hour that we reign supreme.
