Happy Mabon!
Depending upon where you live, Fall is pretty much settling in early. As I type this, it’s in the 40’s and the air has that slight Fall smell to it, which always reminds me of crisp apples and chimney smoke. I know before I even realize it, all the plush leaves on the trees will go from vivid green to all the beautiful shades of Fall. I have a Japanese Maple in my front yard and I love watching the colors on its leaves change, because they’re gorgeous and have such rich, beautiful color to them.
Wishing you a blessed Mabon today.
Mabon is also a time to recognize that the balance of the year has changed, the wheel has turned, summer is now over, we must prepare for a long winter ahead of us, and ask the Lord of the Dark Sun to be kind to us throughout the winter months.
Autumn’s Equinox is a time of balance, it is a time to look within ourselves and balance our thoughts and emotions, to find balance in our lives.
Astrologers will recognize this as the date the Sun enters the sign of Libra – the Scales of Balance.
Mabon is considered a time of mysteries. The Druids call this celebration, Mea’n Fo’mhair, and honor The Green Man, the Horned God of the Forest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings of ciders, wines, and herbs. It is a time to honor Aging Deities and the Spirit World. It is considered a time of balance, it is when we stop and relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests, whether they be from toiling in our gardens, working at our jobs, raising our families, or just coping with everyday life.
